A lovely cottage full of charm in a beautiful area: perfect holidays!

We had a fantastic time in the Old Chapel! The cottage is full of Doreen's little touch to make it a home-like environment: the wood burner for relaxing after a day of exploration in the area, the sofas and board games to entertain the evenings and even a slow cook to have a nice, warm homemade meals after a day of biking in the beautiful forest! Forest of Dean is a jewel area for nature lovers and from this place you can get to see about everything either by car, by bike or simply walking! Last but not least, the owner Doreen is just a kind and helpful person! She always spontaneously and kindly answers our questions and I could feel she just wanted us to enjoy our stay and will go the extra mile to provide us with what we need, even the weather if she could! All in all, we had a great time and it is really thanks to a relaxing place to stay, a beautiful area and a fantastic owner! Alice and family, Oxfordshire

Quite simply, our favourite holiday home

Every so often, you are lucky enough to stumble across a holiday home that fulfils all three short break requirements; beautiful property, brilliantly finished, and in a perfect location. The Old Chapel delivers in abundance in all three. The property is unique and quaint, and is beautifully and tastefully presented throughout. You'll want to spend all of your time here, snuggled in front of the large wood burner, but if you can muster up the enthusiasm to venture out, all of the wonderful attractions in the Forest of Dean are accessible within 30 minutes by car, often much closer. And what separates this experience further still from the small number of other Forest cottages in the same high bracket is the service provided by the owner of the Old Chapel. All of her correspondence is warm and tailored specifically for her guests (we had perfect recommendations for our two young boys, for both wet and dry days) and the property is equipped with absolutely everything you'll need (and plenty you won't!) including a self-penned encyclopedia of the property and the surrounding areas. A wonderful break, and a wonderful holiday home.

A lovely converted former chapel (as the name suggests!). The cottage is relaxing, peaceful and a great place to stay to unwind. Forest walks are metres from the front door and convenient for a wide range of local places of interest (Tintern Abbey, Stroud, other parts of the Forest of Dean). Recommended.

We stayed at The Old Chapel in May 2009 and even though the weather was awful (we woke up to rain on a daily basis) we had an absolutely fantastic time. There is so much to do in the local area that you could keep yourselves busy for two weeks solid and we actually ran out of time to do things - even with all the rain. We would highly recommend mountain biking at Pedalabikeaway in particular. As far as the accommodation is concerned, when the owners say The Old Chapel is relaxing, they really mean it. The place is relaxation personified with an abundance of candles and the log burner. Overall an absolutely fantastic holiday. Lisa & Ben, London
